Mistral is the name of the seemingly leading provider of AI in Europe. Mistral is based out of France and is using datacenters in France and Germany.
Mistral has 4 major product areas related to AI:
- La Plateforme → Explore, customize, and deploy AI solutions with complete control. La Plateforme gives you all the tools you need.
- Le Chat → Frontier intelligence. Deep personalization. Full control. Including Agents.
- Mistral Code → Lightning-fast completions, deep code understanding, and agentic software engineering—right where you work.
- Mistral Compute → Purpose-built infrastructure for AI builders, by AI builders.
I am going to focus on Le Chat in this post and Le Chat comes in three flavors:

Get the Le Chat app
In the Apple App Store on the iPhone or in the Google Play Store on Android, you will find an app called Le Chat by Mistral AI.
You can use the app anonymously our you can sign up/sign in to Mistral. You can use an email address and a password to login (and add multi factor authentication preferably) or you can login using your Google account, your Windows account, your Apple account.
Use Le Chat in a browser
If you prefer not to download the app, you can also open https://chat.mistral.ai/chat in a browser and get the same experience there. In a browser you can also use Le Chat anonymously, but then it doesn’t have any history and you have very limited access to the functionality.
