In line with our blog post yesterday, we might consider eating from home – especially if the calories are worth counting. Even though it’s easier to look at a pre-set menu, and decide on Pad Thai.
It’s often hard to wrap our heads around all the different ingredients while making sure not to waste the food we already have in the fridge. Meanwhile, we might also consider the economics of it – where do I find the cheapest chicken to go with my rice? Wouldn’t it be easy if we could just combine all those headaches, and have a ready-to-go personal chef, right in our pocket?
Why use AI for meal planning?
Time-saving. You don’t have to scroll endlessly through recipes, that all looks at best average.
Your AI is fully customizable. Are you allergic to nuts? No problem! Are you trying to avoid meat? No problem! Are you on Keto? No problem at all!
Its also able to take your leftovers into account. This will help your spending and the environment, since we can reduce our food waste.
Lastly, but also most importantly, Decision relief. After a long day, deciding what to eat can feel impossible. AI lifts that burden off your plate.
Example AI Prompt
First i tried with a simple prompt, focusing on hitting my nutrition goals, with seasonal vegetables and high-protein options.
Create a 5-day dinner plan, focusing on hitting my nutrition goals, with seasonal vegetables and high protein options
| Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 |
| Baked Salmon with Kale, Green Beans & New Potatoes | Grilled Chicken Breast & Roasted Root Trio with Red Cabbage Slaw | Mushroom & Lentil Skillet with Spinach & Greek Yogurt | Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Jerusalem Artichoke & Brussels Sprouts | White Bean, Pumpkin & Spinach Soup with Grilled Turkey Strips |
I think we can all agree, this sounds awesome! But lets be real. Many of us have kids. Words like Lentil Skillet with Spinach, will leave them running away. Lets try to Re-Prompt our Co-pilot with this in mind.
I have a 12 year old, that's not into many vegetables, that are visable in the dish. Can you make a dinner plan where this is in focus?
| Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 |
| Chicken Meatballs with Sneaky Marinara | Pumpkin-Cauliflower Mac & Cheese with Turkey Bacon | Beef & Kale Quesadillas | Salmon Patties & Creamy Pea-Carrot Mash | Turkey Bolognese over Hidden-Veg Spaghetti Squash |
Save to say it understood the assignment.
Verdict
As we concluded, AI is extremely fluid with recipes. It can shape every dish to your liking without any hassle.
If you want to dive deeper, try this prompt:
Please create a recipe for each meal, where you add : *Serving Size*, *Indgredients*, *Instructions* & *Tips*
We could also ask, for it to generate a shopping list, and for it to include where the different items are on sale at the moment. (If your country publishes that digitally)
Its safe to say. AI can work to our advantage, if we are ready to make that change?
