Google recently shipped its new model called Gemini 2.5 flash image, code named Nano Banana. This isn’t news to most tech people, but… – if relatively non-tech people would hear about the amazing features of nano banana, they might go to Google and type nano banana. What they find is a number of websites called something with nano and banana and .ai, .net, .org, .com or whatever. All websites trying to lure you into using their front-end to Google Gemini to make some money, don’t fall into that trap.
Even in the Microsoft Store on Windows 11, you will find a paid app called Nano Banana and apps called something with Gemini, pretending to be made by Google, they are NOT!
We, at A Daily Prompt, hate these scams and one of the purposes of this getting started series is to help people separate shit from Shinola. We will never charge you money nor lure you to a website where they do.
So… – Gemini is the name of Googles AI offering. It comes in three different flavors, including a free model and the flash image creator is included in all flavors, with varying performance/features
| Feature / Plan | Google AI Free | Google AI Pro | Google AI Ultra |

Beside this, Google Gemini is also included in Google Workspace for businesses and much like Microsoft, Google are adding Gemini capabilities for the Google apps natively.
Obviously, this post will not dive into the details of every one of these SKUs and the list might even change going forward, but this post will explain how you can get access to Google Gemini
Get Gemini
In Android phones, Gemini is pre-installed, but obviously also available in the Google Play Store for updates. On iPhone, you will find the Google Gemini app in the Apple App Store. On Android devices Gemini can respond to “Hey Google” and it can be activated by long-pressing the power button.
On Windows, you can get to Google Gemini in a browser. There is no official Google apps in the Microsoft Store. There is an app called gem Cloud – AI gemini – developed on Google Gemini, but it has nothing to do with Google.
Google also announced that they will be rolling out Google Gemini to Google Nest devices in august 2025 and TVs operated by Google TV will be updated later in 2025 (or 2026).
Google Gemini requires authentication with a Google Account (no surprise).
Use Gemini in a browser
If you are on a Windows PC (with no access to a Gemini app), you can open https://gemini.google.com in a browser and get the same experience there, when you login with your Google account.
If you are using the Google Chrome browser, you will also find Gemini in the Google Apps selector (top right hand corner) and if you are using Microsoft Edge, you can add an Extension (not developed by Google) called G App Launcher, which enables access to Google Apps quickly.
Let’s retry that magic prompt…
Much faster than Copilot and ChatGPT and to be honest, quite a bit more magical.
